Half-Life 3 may finally be real - new evidence suggests it's nearly complete

Everyone's just offended and let down. Like how can Valve, the successful company that literally owns Steam, fail to deliver HL3 after so long. It's not like 3DRealms where they got stuck in corporate restructuring and legal issues. There's literally no excuse.

There's always signs, hints and speculation that Half Life 3 will finally be unveiled throughout the past 20 years.

At this point, I'll believe when I actually see it.

Reminds me of Duke Nukem Forever.

Arrived too late.

Lukewarm.

All the passion dissipated.

Time to move on.

I was never a fan of HL, even the 1st, but why destroy the legacy the fans hold close to their heart with a so-so generic game? Let legends be legends. Create a new identity and innovate. Don't just remake or bring back the same old thing just to milk money. (Buyers are also to blame too, for buying remakes.)

(Not that other new games are worth shouting about anyway.)

At least, they are not naming this Half-Life Forever.

Not needed anymore. It's like DNF or Star Citizen: If you make people wait for too long, some of them eventually will move on. Even if they started as fans.

The when-its-done-mantra is not working on me anymore. We all waited long long years for this and Valve ignored us. Now they seem to think, we can start this relationship over with a statement. And HL3 won't be that good to convince me to wait another 20 yrs or so for HL4, so I'll skip this particular title. In fact they can go and shove... :)
I'll stop here. Lot's of interesting games coming in 2025 anyway.

2 cents. Needed to vent this, sorry.
I don't remember people paying 10000$ for a future ship in HL3.

Doom, Quake, Half Life and Duke Nukem were all "ego shooters". Very good level design (probably the best ever) and very strong personalities from the protagonist.

They also had memorable enemies and characters.

Modern gaming sucks because we don't have these things.

Yeah, all corridor shooters now with bland and generic enemies. It's why those early games you mentioned hold up so well even today.
